I always prefer to visit the commissioned property personally when practical, both to meet with you and discuss your requirements and to take detailed photographs from varying angles to capture the character of the building.  Alternatively, if you live further afield, send me a selection of photographs for me to work from.  In this case I will prepare a detailed drawing for your approval and this can be purchased at an extra cost. If you are sending photographs please bear in mind that houses look much more attractive on a sunny day, although taking a photograph directly into the sun can give a washed out look to the house.  You may have noticed that the property looks it's best in the early evening.  Shadows can add dramatic atmosphere and details such as stone work or an opened window or gate can add life to the property.  

It is preferable to send several pictures from various angles and not too close to the front of the building.  Trees and hedges can be very useful at disguising the adjoining house and to frame the house so please include a few photos including any such trees, hedges or stone walls.  Please make notes of anything you do not wish to be included, the washing line, satellite dish, telephone wire, or the rusty old gate for example.  If sending by post please ensure that the picture is at least 8 x 10 inches so that details will be clearly visible.  

To email them they need to be saved as a jpeg, or pdf files or in a word documents and sent as attachments.  Again please ensure the photosize in a word document is no less than 8 x 10 inches and printed to a high or advanced quality of print.  Please allow at least 2 to 3 weeks for completion of your portrait depending on how many commissions I have in hand.  If your commission is for a gift or a specific date, please let me know and it may be possible to arrange completion at shorter notice.
