Career so far .....

David Lewry was educated at Sevenoaks School in Kent and, having achieved an A-level in Art and Art History, was accepted at St Martin's School of Art in London. 

He later completed an Honours Degree in Art and Humanities with the Open University and subsequently a Botanical Illustration Diploma Course under the tutelage of renowned Botanical Artist Rosie Martin.

He has continued to develop his develop his technique and his paintings and drawings have been featured in Rosie's books including Contemporary Botanical Illustration and Natural History Painting with the Eden Project.  He has been asked to contribute to her fourth book which is due to be published in 2012.  He has also taught on the Botanical Illustration Diploma Course at Dartington College in Devon.

He is a popular tutor with Saga Cruises which has resulted in teaching watercolour painting around the world. He runs a number of highly successful watercolour classes and workshops in the Bedford area and will be hosting several residential courses around the country in future months. In 2009 he exhibited 12 paintings at the Royal Horticultural Society Show in London. His exhibit Exotic Fruit and Vegetables from Bedford Market attracted a lot of interest and he was awarded a prestigious silver medal. He is increasingly being sought out for private and commercial commissions, especially painting some of the attractive buildings to be found in the Bedfordshire villages near his home.
